ORLANDO, Fla., Nov. 27, 2023 – The CFEED analytics team will share an engaging presentation entitled “Collaborative Data-Sharing in Florida” in a FCAN “Hot Topics” webinar on Nov. 30, 2023. The free webinar will be held from 3:30 to 4:30 pm EST.

Diana Pienaar, Director; Michael Holt, Product Director/Innovation Manager; and Ashton Terry, Senior Manager, will demonstrate how a unique collaboration between education institutions in Central Florida is driving student success from PK to K20 education.

It’s called the Central Florida Educational Ecosystem Database (CFEED). The team will share why the partnership got started and how CFEED’s data insights provide a long view of the education journey (from as early as elementary school to post-secondary education) that improves college access and completion. They will also share some of the innovations the data-sharing collaborative is creating to drive change.

Holt explains that CFEED is a partnership, which is unique to Florida and the United States, that was formed between two central Florida school districts (Osceola and Orange), and two higher education institutions (Valencia College, and the University of Central Florida). The partnership fosters data collaboration that would not otherwise exist, making it possible to compile historical and ongoing data (600 variables) from the entire student journey. CFEED then uses its AI platform and analytic capabilities to interpret the variables, thereby providing a comprehensive view of student success, outcomes, and opportunities.

The exciting part is that through data analysis and reporting tools, CFEED provides leaders access to data that was inaccessible that can deliver descriptive and predictive insights on their desktops. These insights can lead to data driven discussions about student success, course pathways, transfer shock, transfer readiness, student readiness, and other trends that inform decisions and improve interventions along the student journey from K12 to K20.

The CFEED model and its tools serve as a template that could be implemented statewide and has already help provide insights that led to programs like Osceola Prosper, where the CFEED infrastructure helps to support students in making a smooth transfer from Valencia College to UCF (University of Central Florida). The Helios Education Foundation Transfer Scholars program has helped hundreds of Osceola Prosper students prepare for a successful transfer experience. Other models include data on middle school acceleration, dual enrollment, and elementary reading.

Holt says the CFEED model has evolved to include a cloud-based data architecture, a top-tier research team, modern AI models, an extensive portfolio of research, and established programs that can help leaders implement complex student success interventions. Revealing meaning from the data is at the heart of what CFEED does.
